Well, FOX put up the final two, unaired episodes of Drive up on their website. Just click here. Yes, the Firefox plugin is legit, go ahead and install it. You’ll have to disable AdBlock (if you’re using Firefox, which you are…right?) to watch the episodes. The two episodes you’ll be interested in are The Extra Mile and then Rearview. Enjoy! If only FOX would cancel the crap shows like Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader? and ’til Death. Boom! See? Blank hour timeslot on the schedule. Drive fits perfectly in there.
If they cancel House, Hell’s Kitchen, or (possibly) Kitchen Nightmares, there’s gonna be hell to pay….
Team Fortress 2 Beta comes out later today via Steam for those of us that preordered The Orange Box. I’m actually going to do work now so I can have a free night to play TF2 in peace. The stuff I need to do isn’t due for a couple of days, but I have other stuff to do (like play TF2!) and I don’t want to forget about it.
My copy of Metroid Prime 3 Corruption came today from Amazon.com! 
I spent a bit of time exploring the first area of the game and getting used to the controls. It took me awhile to get used to the sensitivity. Unfortunately, you do need to move a bit to the left or right on the screen to turn/aim. Having to communicate with friends to get all the extras sounds neat, althought I don’t know how much it will be used. Lastly, my roommate Jim came up behind me and commented on the lack of anti-aliasing, to which I replied, “This isn’t an XBox 360.” He’s used to playing Bioshock on his PC, so I can understand how bad graphics are the first thing he noticed. I noticed less jaggies when I turned down the sharpness on my TV, but they were still noticeable if I stared at it closely enough. Luckily I can’t notice the jaggies with my bad vision from my normal gaming distance from the TV, which is about a foot or so.
All I care about is a good game. If the developers can do that with a smooth framerate, it’s not worth the extra processing power for anti-aliasing if it’s going to degrade the perceived look of the game. Most non-gamers — I think — notice a difference in framerate more than a difference in AA or resolution. Also, I am using a 26″ widescreen HDTV. I’m sure most people are using 19″ or smaller TVs, thus the lack of AA wouldn’t be as noticeable on a smaller scale.
To any new MP3 gamers, have fun getting corrupted like me over the Labor Day weekend!

- Greece has a Disco Inferno on its hands, and it can be seen from space. Cool pics, but I hope no one has gotten hurt thus far….
- Important cargo is going onto Discovery. Star Wars fans will have a mini orgaism. Chewie, stormtroopers, and other Star Wars characters will be on hand to make sure the artifact is safe. Read the article for info on the “trek.”
- Today’s Woot are these, but I don’t get it. I don’t game for that long, and it’s very rare that I have intense gaming moments. Oh well — I guess I’m not in the extreme gamer’s market/group.
- Monster’s ripping people off again. Just don’t do it people.
- China’s got 181 miners trapped in a flooded mine. What does the US do? Hardly report on it. What do they do when 6 of their own are trapped? Report the hell out of it. 6 VS 181, hmmm…which is the greater loss of human life? If we go by media standards, I’d say 6. The comments on digg — which is where I originally heard about the story a couple of days ago — has some funny/sad comments.

Gamasutra has an article about Zork that is almost a month old, but I couldn’t resist posting it. Zork and I have a history, starting with Activision’s Zork: Grand Inquisitor. You can blame my sister and her taste in games. I also played Return to Zork. I still have the Zork Collector’s Set she gave me, along with Myst. The gaming world needs more of these kinds of games.
PC World has an article on spyware that knows if it’s being run in a virtual environment…pretty scary. That’s why you should always have a crappy cheapo box around if the spyware refuses to run in VMWare or some other virtualization product to really know what it’s up to. I remember the most nasty piece of spyware had me running BartPE on a machine because it would hide itself when Windows was run, due to it modifying the registry so much that Windows couldn’t read it normally.
I’m now back in Cherry Hill. We ended up getting out of FIEA a lot earlier and got an earlier flight out of FL and came back home.
